upon making this comment to one of my friends, whom i considered unlikely to be a big fan of the BET pop queen (even if i did think that one song with DMX was good), he got angry at me with the usual "[expletive deleted] you" -- i quickly consoled him by pointing out that since she was finishing up shooting a video at the time, he'd have plenty of time to mourn in the presence of her music, since MTV and pop radio will have to be forced to let go of this one

hell, Mclean's American Pie (thought it's actually a good song, the parallel remains) is still a huge favorite and even has two movies bearing its name
